Covid-19 Safety Plan and Guidelines

Fellow homeowners, welcome to summer !  Our summer season has officially kicked-off on June 20th. I can’t think of a better place to have a home than Wills Creek, surrounded in natural beauty.

With summer, comes the opening of our pool and hot tub. As many of you now know both are now open. After a long delay in getting this facility back online due to COVID-19, your Strata Council, Amenities Committee, and other select volunteers have worked effortlessly to ensure our facilities would meet the required government standards for re-opening, including those imposed by Worksafe BC.

One such requirement was the creation of a Covid-19 Safety Plan which was mandatory before we could re-open. By now you should have received a copy of the homeowner’s COVID-19 Safety Guide to ensure everyone stays safe as you enjoy our facilities during this pandemic. You may have also already read the notices around the facilities as well as seen some of the physical changes which have been put in place for this purpose.  ALL these measures were put in place with the health and safety of home owners and their families in mind. Strata Council has gone to great lengths to ensure our Safety Plan is compliance with government regulations, and to ensure the safety of everyone while minimizing any impact to you the homeowner so that you can enjoy our excellent facilities.

However, none of these efforts will work properly without your full cooperation. We were successful in getting our re-opening plan accepted by demonstrating to authorities that our homeownership is responsible and considerate of others and that Wills Creek residents takes the COVID-19 medical situation seriously. And that the overall administration of the plan is by way of self-governance and individual homeowner responsibility. Simply put, this means Wills Creek Strata will not be policing the facility to ensure compliance with our COVID-19 plan. We expect each and every homeowner to be responsible and ensure they are compliant with the COVID19 plan. Your Strata Council would like to make the following point very clear:

  • If the COVID-19 Re-opening Safety Plan is not followed, there is evidence that homeowners are not taking the plan seriously, or there is evidence that the self-governance protocol is not working, Strata Council will be forced to permanently CLOSE the facility for the remainder of the season. This will also effects the fitness center. We are all homeowners and must act responsibly.

Maintenance Update

Many of you will have noticed and commented on the portable workstation (tent) set up in the visitor parking area next to the amenities building.  This set up was allowed by Council to facilitate the ongoing much needed wood repairs required to many of our units. The contractor commissioned to carry out these repairs required a suitable workstation somewhat protected from the environment in order to carry out their mill work / precision and custom fitting. This location will be occupied until the end of the project. As always, your council takes into consideration the impact this will have on all homeowners. Unfortunately, the inconvenience is unavoidable at times, given the nature of the repairs and the allowable work locations within our strata. 

On another note, it was unfortunate that we were not able to host the annual opening BBQ where all homeowners gather to kick off the summer season due to COVID19. Hopefully next year we will be able to return to a normal schedule.

In closing I would like to thank my fellow Council members and welcome all to a new year of strata management. I would also like to thank our dedicated volunteers who donate their time on various committees to ensure everything runs smoothly and which also reduces the impact on our budget.  Thank you all for your dedication and contributions to our strata.
