The following theft was reported by our neighbouring Block Watch. Please be vigilent and report any any suspicious activity to police.

FILE NUMBER: #16-144525

DATE & TIME: Thursday, Oct 6 at approx 3:30 a.m.

LOCATION: 2890 – 161 Street

DESCRIPTION OF CRIMINAL ACTIVITY:

Residents at the above location were woken up around 3:30 a.m. by a vehicle with a very loud engine and exhaust (likely a muffler that is broken or has holes in it). The vehicle sounded like it came down 161 Street and stopped in front of their residence. The homeowner then heard a (car) door slam. At this point she ran downstairs and on the way down heard a (car) door slam again and the vehicle drove away. By the time she got to the front door the car was gone. The culprit(s) had stolen their children’s chair that sits on their front porch. This chair has sentimental value and has been handed down from child to child over the years. The youngest would sit on it to wave goodbye to her brothers and Dad in the morning. This is definitely a theft of a sentimental item. An attempt by the male homeowner to locate the culprits was made and the police were also called. The RCMP attended and spoke with the homeowners.

If you have any further information, or if you have video surveillance that captured suspicious activity between 3:30 and 4:00 a.m., or you actually saw something suspicious around the same time in this area please give the non-emergency number a call (604-599-0502), and send me information including the footage or “stills” so I can forward on to the RCMP and share with all of you so we can keep an eye out for the vehicle. These people are likely casing our homes during the day.

Let’s keep vigilant and continue to watch our neighbors properties as we would our own. Thanks for your ongoing support.
