Attention Block Watch Members,

Throughout December, the Surrey RCMP will be inviting the community to help “Pack the Police Car” with non-perishable food, gifts, cash donations, and other needed items in support of local food banks and charity programs across the City of Surrey.

Surrey RCMP officers, Auxiliary Constables, staff and volunteers are holding four Pack the Police Car events between now and the end of the month to help families in need during the holidays.

Guildford (supporting the Surrey Food Bank)

  • December 4th from 1:00pm – 6:00pm at Save on Foods (9014 152nd Street)

Cloverdale (supporting the Christmas Hamper Program)

  • December 4th from 2:30pm – 8:00pm at Save on Foods (18710 Fraser Hwy)

South Surrey (supporting Sources Food Bank)

  • December 10th from 10:00am – 3:00pm at Thrifty Foods (15745 Croydon Drive)

Newton (supporting the Surrey Food Bank)

  • December 31st from 9:00am – 3:00pm at Save on Foods (7320 King George Blvd) *Surrey RCMP’s Newton District Office (7235 137th Street) is also collecting food donations from December 1-31

“This time of year can be especially hard for some families and individuals in our community and this is our little way of helping out,” says Surrey RCMP Corporal Scotty Schumann. “While we encourage people to donate year round, we’d like to make the holidays a little brighter by packing our police cars full of food and gifts for local food banks and charities.”

Local food banks graciously accept donations including grocery gift cards and monetary donations, however, suggest the following non-perishable food donations: powdered baby formula, canned protein, peanut butter, milk powder, hot and cold cereals, meals in a tin, canned vegetables and fruit, wholegrain pasta/rice, pasta sauces, mac and cheese. The Surrey Food Bank also accepts general baby supplies for its Tiny Bundles program and the Christmas Hamper Program accepts new unwrapped toys for children.

For more information or to donate please visit the Surrey Food Bank, Sources Food Bank, and the Cloverdale Christmas Hamper Program.
